About

BACKGROUND

Dr. Marisol Marroquín is a Guatemalan-American first-generation PhD from East Los Angeles. Dr.  recently received her PhD in Social Work from Arizona State University. She received her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from California State University, Long Beach and her undergraduate at Whittier College with a double major in Spanish and Social Work. Marisol is currently a clinical social worker in Arizona (LMSW). She has 6 years of clinical service experience varying from permanent supportive housing, outpatient therapy, and hospital social work. She is uniquely experience in collaborating with the Latinx community by providing services, in Spanish when preferred, and using her bi-cultural experience to support clients’ overall mental health and access to basic needs such as housing, food, and health care. Marisol has combined her experiences with communities and passion for justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion into her academic career to enrich the knowledge of diverse communities. She uses critical frameworks to understand the importance of intersectional identities and how it impacts individuals health experiences. As such, her research and teaching include discussions of systemic disparities and community resistance and resilience.

Feel free to continue exploring the website to learn more about Marisol and feel free to reach out to her directly with any questions.
